Gorgi Coghlan, who co-hosts The Project, caused a social media stir on Wednesday night’s show by wearing a dress that left little to the imagination.
The semi-regular on the Channel Ten program was wearing a sleeveless bronze-and-blue dress cut to fit snugly to her chest.
As Coghlan apologised on air for her wardrobe choice, the hashtag “nipplegate” began trending on Twitter.

Fans of the show posted about the wardrobe mishap on Twitter, prompting Coghlan to apologise ‘if she had offended anyone’ and joke about wearing a turtle-neck on the next show.
The exposure overshadowed a guest appearance by Megan Gale, who spoke of her experiences filming Mad Max: Fury Road.

But not everyone on Twitter was disgusted by the dress.
Sir Robin The Red posted: “Don’t sweat it, Gorgi. Your outfits of late have been gorgeous. This one hardly counts as a fail.”
While Ron O’Bryan wrote: “I can’t believe that people are upset … what the hell is wrong with you people?”
‘Nipplegate’ is just the latest in a long line of female TV hosts being criticised for their attire.
Today Show host Karl Stefanovic last year revealed he had been participating in a ‘suit experiment’ by wearing the same navy number on air, every day for 12 months.
And no one even noticed.
Stefanovic said he came up with the idea while reflecting on the constant criticism and unsolicited advice received by his co-host Lisa Wilkinson and Samantha Armytage, the host of rival breakfast program Sunrise.
All that seemed to matter on Wednesday night’s program was what Coughlan was wearing.
Co-host Waleed Aly must have felt left out – no one commented on his nipples.
