5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford has reassured fans he is on the mend after his hair caught fire while performing live on stage.

The Australian band was forced to cut its show short while playing at London’s Wembley Arena on Saturday night, when Clifford walked got too close to a pyrotechnics display.

On Sunday Clifford posted on Twitter to let fans know he was recovering: “Hello world. im doing ok, thanks for worrying”, he wrote.

A video on YouTube showed Clifford playing guitar on stage before walking into a fire display which sets his hair alight.

His head was up in flames as he ran off stage clutching it in pain.

Clifford’s bandmate, Ashton Irwin, told the crowd soon after that the show was over, MTV reported.

“Michael has hurt himself so we will not be continuing the show right now,” Irwin reportedly said.

“Just want to say thank you so much for coming. He is okay. You guys have been the best crowd we could ask for tonight. Thank you so much.”

Clifford and his band mates later posted photos and messages on social media apologising to fans for the incident and assured them he wasn’t badly injured.

Hello world. im doing ok 🙂 thanks for worrying!
