Daily Show host Trevor Noah undergoes emergency surgery

Comedian Trevor Noah has reportedly undergone a successful emergency surgery to remove his appendix.

The Daily Show episode due to air in the US within hours was cancelled as a result, to be replaced by a repeat.

“We’re happy to report the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery,” his employer, Comedy Central, said in a statement.

Noah should return for Friday’s episode, the comedy channel said.

The South African funnyman replaced long-running host Jon Stewart in March.
