Feminist and cultural critic Naomi Wolf has has walked out of synagogue in protest at the lack of acknowledgement of what she has described as the “genocide in Gaza”.
Wolf, a prominent critic of Israeli foreign policy, made the revelation in a Facebook posting in response to people who were questioning her criticism of the latest ground invasion in Gaza.
AFP reports that more than 630 Palestinaians – including many families – have been killed since Israel launched the ground and aerial assault 15 days ago.
Wolf said she made the impassioned statement “because I am the granddaughter of a family half wiped out in a holocaust and I know genocide when I see it”.
