Tens of thousands of people have gathered in Hong Kong's chief financial district in a landmark protest calling for democratic elections and the resignation of the city's chief executive, Leung Chun-Ying.
The protest, one of the biggest in China since the Tiananmen Square crackdown 25 years ago, turned violent overnight as protestors clashed with police.
This footage, captured by a drone over the city on Monday night, shows the sheer scale of the protests which have been ongoing since Friday.
