The floodgates of scrutiny opened wide.

More than 11 million documents were contained in the leak, investigated by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

World leaders, Hollywood celebrities, and global corporations were among those connected to Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca in the leaked documents.

Reporters found some of the shell companies may have been used for illegal purposes, including fraud or tax evasion.

The father of UK Prime Minister David Cameron was found to have run an offshore account through Mossack Fonseca that avoided the country's taxes for thirty years.

The sharks were circling the family of UK PM David Cameron after the leak, with Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn calling for an investigation into Mr Cameron's family.
