An Australian female tourist has alleged she was gang-raped in Paris, just days before the Olympic Games, according to reports.

French media report a major police investigation is underway after the 25-year-old claimed she was attacked by five men in the party district of Paris.

The alleged victim was disoriented and sought refuge in a kebab store just metres from the Moulin Rouge, on the Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement, according to French news.

It’s been reported the alleged incident occurred early on Saturday morning (local time).

The woman’s dress was reportedly torn and she was wearing it back to front.

The Australian told police she had been raped by five men and was taken to Bichat hospital where she underwent an examination.

Channel Seven’s Sunrise reports that the woman was planning to go back to Australia, but she is now staying in Paris to help police with their enquiries.

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is due to kick off on July 26 (local time).
