Dannii Minogue is poised to return to acting for the first time in 35 years after being named among the cast of an upcoming British TV series.
Melbourne-born Minogue, 53, has been a mainstay of television in Australia and the UK in hosting and talent show-judging roles for many years.
But she has not acted since playing troubled teen Emma Jackson on Home and Away from 1989 to 1990.
In the new show, Imposter, she will appear alongside former Neighbours co-star Jackie Woodburne in a drama set in Australia, but produced by the Paramount-owned British broadcaster Channel 5.

To be released next year, Imposter is pitched as a Succession-style drama that centres around a “twisted family betrayal and murder”. It is set in a seaside family hotel.
“The lucrative hotel is the ultimate prize and a twisted scheme soon spirals into betrayal and, ultimately, murder,” the synopsis teases.
According to British media, filming has already begun in Victoria.
“Her character will be one of the suspects in the murder, as the family all fight it out over the family empire,” a Channel 5 spokesperson told The Sun newspaper.
“It’s been decades since she’s acted on the small screen and everyone at the channel is over the moon that she was able to make the dates work because she loved the script,” they were quoted as saying.
Minogue, who rose to fame as a performer on Young Talent Time in the 1980s, left Home and Away to follow sister Kylie Minogue in pursuing a music career.

Since then she has been a regular television guest and presenter, particularly on British TV, as well as Australian appearances as a judge on The Masked Singer.
Most recently she has hosted the BBC same-sex reality shows I Kissed a Boy – which aired on Network Ten in Australia – and I Kissed a Girl.
Imposter is scheduled to air in Britain in 2026. It is not yet confirmed if and where it will be shown on Australia.
