Johnny Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, is pushing for a trial early next year on biosecurity charges involving her pet Yorkshire terriers.

Heard is accused of illegally bringing her two dogs Boo and Pistol into the country on a private jet when she visited Depp, who was filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the Gold Coast.

Heard’s solicitor on Monday told Southport Magistrates Court his client wants a trial early in the new year. Heard did not appear.

Documents petitioning for the early court date were sealed by the court after a request by Herd’s lawyer.

A five-day hearing is expected.

The court also heard the Federal Government will bring 12 witnesses to trial.

The matter has been set down again for mention on December 15.
