“Aging and increasingly fragile…” that’s how the Defence Minister has described frigates currently charged with defending our country.

In an exclusive report, a senior defence strategist says our major east coast naval base looks like a “museum”.  

And people don’t like to say it out loud, but Donald Trump may be right about one thing – Australia, like so many other US allies, has built its defence thinking for decades on one big idea: That if trouble really comes, our big American buddy will come and bail us out.

No longer can we be so sure.
