NSW police have confirmed they have ended the search for missing three-year-old William Tyrell, 10 days after he disappeared from his grandmother’s house on the NSW coast.

Seventy police and volunteers finished their search on Sunday, with the investigation now focusing on information received since the boy’s unexplained disappearance.

• Toddler search: new leads sought

A 50 square kilometre search has failed to find William, with police saying it is unlikely he will be found alive.

Operation Commander Superintendent Paul Fehon appealed to the public who had any further information about the boy’s disappearance.

“There must be someone out there who knows something about William’s unexplained disappearance,” Supt Fehon said.

William’s was last seen playing with his sister at his grandmother’s house in Kendall at around 10.30am on Friday, September 12.

The boy’s family said in a statement they hoped their son would be able to fulfil his wish of becoming a firefighter.

“William up until a month ago was obsessed with all things fire engine and would tell us his name was ‘Firefighter William’, a future he deserves to fulfil,” they said.

“William is only three years and three months old and really still a baby, he has so many more years to live and we desperately want him home.”
