A man found dead in a Queensland park is being fondly remembered by friends and loved ones as police continue the search for his killer.
Trevor Doyle, 29, was found dead on the footpath at Reserve Park in Slacks Creek, south of Brisbane, on Wednesday morning by a local resident.
Queensland Police declared a crime seen after visible injuries on Doyle sparked a homicide investigation.
Police believe Doyle, who was a local to Slacks Creek, went to the park sometime between 7pm Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
“We can’t say how long he was in the park prior to him being located,” Detective Inspector Chris Knight said.
“The circumstances surrounding the young man’s death are tragic of course and there are visible injuries observed by our forensic officers that certainly allow us to treat this as a homicide and an unexplained suspicious death.”
Officers also do not know how long Doyle was dead before his body was found. An autopsy was to be done on Thursday.
The park remained filled on Thursday with police, forensic officers and SES crews, searing for clues about who might be responsible for Doyle’s death.
Knight said police had found no weapon in the “immediate” area.
Other items were seized in the park, although police were yet to determine whether any were related to the incident.
It is also unclear whether it was a random attack but Knight suspected Doyle met somebody at the park and “something has occurred”.
“It could have been a meeting for anything,” he, when asked whether it could have been drug-related.
“At the moment, we have a lot of questions surrounding those circumstances.”
Doyle’s lifestyle patterns and his movements in the days leading up to his death are part of the police investigation.
Friends have taken to social media to pay tribute to Doyle, who is fondly remembered for being a good friend at the Indigenous Murri School in Brisbane and a keen dancer.
“We all had our own shine at that school but he was always dancing,” one friend said.
Police are asking anyone to come forward if they have information, particularly if they were in the area between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
They have also requested dash cam or CCTV footage within that time frame.
