Australia’s hot, thundery weather is tipped to continue through the festive season for most of us this year.

With just over a week until Christmas Day, the Bureau of Meteorology and Accu Weather have given us an early glimpse into what each Australian city can expect.

Despite warnings of storms and rain for most of our major cities, there might also be enough sunny weather to include the odd barbecue and backyard cricket.

Here’s what each Australian capital can expect for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Melbourne, Victoria

Melbourne’s Christmas should be slightly warmer than Sydney this year, with AccuWeather forecasting a high of 28 degrees.

High cloud cover and a scattered showers will add to the humidity, with rain becoming steadier throughout the day.

Thunderstorms are forecast for Christmas night, followed by a cooler – but still humid – Boxing Day with a top of 23 degrees.
