Twitter takes off with traffic cam seagull

Commuters, bird enthusiasts and pun professionals have been united by a seagull photo-bombing a traffic cam in Britain.

Dubbed Darren, the gull appears to be attempting to forge a new career for himself as a traffic reporter for TFL Traffic News in London.

He made his first appearance on Tuesday (Australian time), before rolling up for an encore on Wednesday. He’s also occasionally seen with a mate, whose name is rumoured to be Stephen.

The internet (mostly) gave Darren a rousing reception, despite his error in reporting the lengthy delays in beak-hour traffic.
