Bare-knuckle boxing is legal in some US states and is growing fast, even after the death of a fighter in 2021 after brutal, 19-second knockout. 

Now, some want to import it to Australia.

The latest attempt was shut down by Western Australia’s Combat Sports Commission.

Rejecting an application linked to Conor McGregor’s US-based company to hold a fight in Perth on safety grounds. 

But supporters are still coming out swinging. 

10 News+’s Brianna Parkins visited a home in Western Sydney to speak to a man who says the blood sport is good for his mental health. 

“With equality and everyone accepting everyone else and all this sh-t, but some people have to accept some people just fight, and they need to do this, it’s like therapy for us,” Randall Rayment says. 

10 News+ asked experienced neurologist Dr Julia Thompson down to one of Randall’s gloves-on sparring sessions to get her opinion.
