Rather than the tried and true destinations such as the United States and Britain, intrepid Aussies will instead head to Myanmar, Mykonos and Iceland, according to travel search engine Skyscanner.
These predictions are based on the analysis of Skyscanner flight search data from the last three years, and shows Australians are becoming more adventurous with travel.

Our top 10 travel destinations for 2015 have been revealed.
1. Myanmar: After years of isolation from the rest of the world, Myanmar (Burma) has begun opening its borders to tourists. The former British colony features stunning temples, rivers, beaches and stilt houses.
2. Mykonos, Greece: The Greek island is known for its nightlife, windmills and white-washed buildings. The small island features 18th century architecture and rows of fishing houses, and is popular with partying celebrities.
3. Iceland: The country features some of the world’s most active volcanoes and geo-thermal springs, alongside Europe’s largest glacier, and has won a starring role in HBO’s hugely successful Game of Thrones series.

5. Panama: the former Spanish colony is an ethnically-diverse and colourful country which boasts stunning rainforests, highlands, beaches and architecture. Improvements in infrastructure, including a new metro, have made this Central American nation more attractive to tourists.
6. New Caledonia: The tiny and remote island archipelago, 2,000 miles off the East coast of Australia, has a population of just 246,000. The former French colony is popular for its white sand beaches and friendly locals.

9. Nicaragua: Shaking off its reputation for political strife, colourful Nicaragua is giving Brazil a run for its money. The Central American hotspot is great for adventure-seekers who want volcanos, beaches, forests and colonial architecture.
10. Okinawa, Japan: A chain of thousands of sub-tropical islands stretching 1,000 km across the South China Sea from the southwest tip of Japan almost to Taiwan. World-class diving, unspoilt jungle, and pure white beaches will make Okinawa a magnet for Australian travellers in 2015.
