A police vehicle has crashed into a Sydney house, causing minor injuries to a couple inside.

The Dog Unit vehicle lost control and left the road, hitting a house in Smithfield while en route to a call at Fairfield Heights at 5.30am on Tuesday (AEST).

A 68-year-old man and 55-year-old woman were in their bedroom at the time of the crash.
